Welcome and congratulations! You are taking your first step on your journey toward Black Belt excellence.

Doctors, Psychologists, teachers and athletic coaches highly recommend our curriculum for its ability to develop one's confidence, self-discipline and a “yes I can attitude.”

Unlike other sports activities where the primary focus is winning the game and where only the best participate, the curriculum focuses first on your attitude, then your skill. By doing so, it gives everyone the opportunity to receive praise for their efforts regardless of their mental or physical abilities.

We have parking and drop off in back of School if you like to avoid front lot.

Policies and Procedures

CLASS TIMES

Refer to your new schedule for class times. We recommend that you attend class on consistent days and times each week. Parents dropping off children should do so five minutes prior to the class time.  The school becomes very busy around class time and is not responsible for unattended children. Also, all children must wait inside the school until their ride arrives.

UNIFORM ATTIRE

Students are responsible to keep their uniforms clean, neat and odor free. T-shirts must be tucked into pants.

VIEWING CLASSES

The school encourages parents to observe class. We only ask you that you respect the class by remaining quiet and if you bring younger children, that you keep them under control. Please do not leave children unattended in the waiting area.

Belt Testing

The Ranking System is a very important tool designed to motivate by teaching a student how to set and achieve short and long term goals. It provides students with positive reinforcement by rewarding them with a specific colored belt signifying their level of progress and achievement.

The Belts: There are a total of 8 Belts that must be obtained prior to achieving the coveted Black Belt. In addition, students also receive stripes on their Belts indicating their degree of progress.

The Test: Testing gives students the opportunity to demonstrate their skills under stressful circumstances. This stress is important because it simulates emotions that an individual may encounter under life threatening circumstances in the real world. Testing is an essential building block used to teach an individual how to respond more logically and rationally when an obstacle arises.

The Testing Application: Everyone is always on his or her best behavior in karate class. However, one of our main objectives is to develop well-balanced students in and out of the school. The testing application is an official document that serves the following:

  • It is an indicator that the student has fulfilled and meets all their responsibilities to their karate school and instructor.

  • It assures that the student is appreciative, respectful and cooperative at home.

  • It encourages the student to turn in their report cards and work toward academic excellence in their studies in school.

Each exam requires demonstration of a specific set of techniques and skills. The instructor, upon watching your progress and class attendance makes the decision when a student is ready to test, not the student or the parent. Our mission is to guide everyone to Black Belt, but only when the professional instructors feel it is time.

Once the instructors agree that a student is ready to test, a notice will be issued. The notice must be filled out and signed by a parent and a teacher at school. In the beginning, belt exams are scheduled closer together and are shorter in length. As the student's knowledge and skill increase, belt exams will be further apart and will take longer to complete.
